Disaster! I had an accident last week and broke my wrist, so there will be no blogging for a while from me. I found the last patch of black ice left after a sudden thaw.
You can see the temporary cast that was put on straight afterwards at the top of this blog.
Here’s my elbow, and this was before the bruises came out properly. It’s now a lot darker! The strange lines are pressure marks from the harness-style sling I have to wear.

I hope to be back on here in 2024. Until then, whether you celebrate Christmas or another happy holiday, have a wonderful December and a peaceful, prosperous New Year.

Oh Christina. I’m so sorry for you! I’m still incapacitated too from my basal joint replacement. The joint above it is STILL bruised (black and blue) and swollen. So painful I’m wondering if that somehow got broken. The consultant commented on it and how stiff it was but didn’t give a reason 😭. Patience and humility have been required in bucketloads so I’m thinking these are your words for Xmas 😭😭😭😫. I’m not one to talk but take it easy and don’t push it. I pushed it yesterday and am paying for it today!
Thanks so much for your kind words! I’m sorry you’re still in so much pain. Could you maybe try and get a second opinion? Although I’m not sure how that is arranged. Or perhaps another appointment with the same consultant, to see if he can refer you for some other treatment? There’s still enough time before Christmas for you to see some improvement. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. As you say, take it easy – and be kind to yourself. You’ll get there in the end.
Hoping you get through Christmas without too much pain!
Thanks, Sally. My OH is a real treasure. This week he’s learned how to cook curry, naans, broccoli and Stilton soup, pizza, and baked haddock. He’s in training for the turkey!
Oh no! Hope you heal well. Sue McDonagh has broken her wrist too if you need to compare notes. Have a good restful Christmas! xx
Thanks, Morton. Yes, poor Sue has had it really bad, hasn’t she? I’m so lucky to have OH and Number One Son on hand (lol) – and a fail-proof way of cooking roast turkey to pass on to them!
